The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, in their 2002 Pastoral Statement, When Call for Help, encouraged pastors to dedicate at least one weekend of October to inform parishioners about how they can recognize and respond to the signs of abuse.
Highlights of DVAM Mass 2019
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in collaboration with Catholics For Family Peace, reserved the Vigil Mass on October 5th as part of the national observance of "Domestic Violence Awareness Month". Most Reverend John H. Ricard, S.S.J., Bishop Emeritus of Pensacola-Tallahassee, was the Celebrant and Homilist. At left, you can view scenes from the Mass and hear the homily.

A Mass for Family Peace was celebrated at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 5:15 pm.
